Pembana™ was born out of the need to manage a growing collection of plants, particularly palms, in a tropical garden on the Big Island of Hawai‘i.

Since then, Pembana™ has evolved into a platform to track accessions, plants, locations, images, and taxonomy all in one place, with workflows tuned for modern botanical institutions or serious collectors.
